Cyclone Yasi: The Other Side (Pt 1)

So, we got through cyclone yasi ok. Places around town began losing power at about 5pm and we lost ours at around 10. We're currently accessing internet via Andre's phone so this won't be a long update.

I can't remember much in the way of times etc, but I do remember that it was about 9 when the winds really began hammering the place. Judging from what I heard from other parts of town, our area had been a bit sheltered by that point. At about 11.30, just as we were dozing off on the couch, a huge clatter from the backyard jolted me awake. Someone's gutter was in our backyard, and one of the palm trees had snapped off and was now lying on the hills hoist.

Didn't sleep well last night. Was pretty convinced something was going to come through our back glass doors.

Will probably have to leave it there for now. Photos and more details to come once I find somewhere with power and am not relying on this phone!
